Whats it all about
Coffee shop fit out
A compact area, the coffee shop and gift shop had to function well on busy, and often wet Cumbrian days. The coffee shop and gifts shop areas are long and thin. That meant a considered use of space to fit all the display cabinets in to the shop for greatest sales display. At the same time creating space for people to move around the coffee shop easily. Tables needed enough space for people to get in and out. Avoiding disturbing shop displays with often wet coats and bags. The bespoke fitted cabinets had to hold a lot without taking up too much floor space.
The room posed challenges with the shape and the buildings architecture. Columns are spaced out through the building. Because of its position between the railway and lake there is no scope to extend the building. We needed to keep within the space we had.
Coffee shop design
We designed bespoke cabinets to fit into the irregular spaces. All created to make most use of the space without pushing out into the coffee shop area.
Keeping the style in line with the traditional surroundings. Lake steamers to one side and steam trains of the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, to the other. Making sure the seating area in the coffee shop to make the best use of the views. Out across the lake to one side and out over the railway on the other. Good lighting throughout was essential to make the space look bigger and roomier.
